Our Institution Shri Shivaji education Society was established in 1932. The Institution was Established by Great Visionary and First Union Agriculture Minister Dr. Panjabrao alias Bhausaheb Deshmukh. Shri Shivaji Arts &Commerce College is the first college run by Shri Shivaji Education Society Amravati. The College Established in 1946. In the beginning of college Science, arts, commerce, agriculture and law programmes were in under one roof. After that Arts & Commerce, Science, Law, Agriculture Colleges were separated. UG Economics Course started in the College in 1946. In 1972-73 M. A. Economics Programme was Started and also from the year 1981-82 M. Phil Economics was started. As Per the UGC Guidelines & University Direction Recently from the year 2017-18 Ph.D. in Economics is the Regular Programme Started in College. The Function of the department has been going on Very Smoothly. UG & PG classes are held regularly, So the Tradition of High Result and Students Achievements are Continues. Department of Economics Regularly Organized Various Local, State and National level Conference/Seminars/ Symposia and Workshops in The College. The economics department regularly organize guest lectures on various socio-economic issues. Students are actively participated in those activities. Sant Gadge Baba Amravati University Amravati has recognized the department as a Ph. D.
