(HOD Journalism & Mass Communication Department)

In view of the bright future of media sector, Shri Shivaji college of Arts and Commerce has set up an independent department of ‘Journalism and Mass Communication’ in the year 2001. In the last 21 years, this department has made its special position in the state of Maharashtra. Rapid growth in print, electronics and new media, emerging online journalism, new area in journalism. Increasing importance of public relation sector and the ever evolving importance of event management, advertising, media research, photography, videography all of this has revolutionized the curriculum of journalism and mass communication. Considering this importance, the Department of Mass Communication offers three year bachelor Degree Course B.A.(JMC) and two year post graduate Course M.A.(JMC) in Journalism and Mass Communication. With the objective of enabling the students of the department of participate in educational and social activities, department established ‘Shivaji Media Club’ in 2015 for the students. Due to various educational and social initiatives, the department has acquired a ‘cognitive’ and ‘functional’ form. Constant innovation and creativity are the hallmarks of this department. Department is Committed to provide opportunities to students to ensure standards of excellence and supreme quality for the students. It provides various facilities for imparting good quality higher education. The department has a well equipped audio-video recording studio. Department has a computer Lab.
